Code And Conventions
The familiar and predictable variety and techniques used by the media to communicate certain ideas or to express a desired impression of something to an audience
Technical codes include:
Camera angles
- The viewpoint of something high, straight, or low that a shot is taken.
Camera shots
- The distance between the camera and the subject.
Sound & Lighting
Symbolic codes include:
Body language
Dress sense
Actions of characters.
Representation
The way different groups in society are portrayed within the media, including culture, ethnicity based on stereotypical images that affect our views of gender, class, age, and social status.
Target Audience
Specific groups of people that mass media or advertisers want to appeal to and attract the attention of.
Marketing
The whole process of promoting and selling a product to a certain audience to see what the product image should be and who is most likely to purchase it. Audience The receiver (the people who may give feedback) or of whom may effect the image of a planned statement of such product.
Genre
A type of something.
Institutions
An organisation that usually establishes and distributes a product for a specific purpose.
Gender
Sexual identity, especially in relation to society or culture. Being female or male.
